Recently AutoTweet started acting up and publishing articles twice to Facebook through the component.
It was working fine before. Now when you select an article and click on Publish to Facebook it displays twice on the Facebook feed.
We only have 1 "Channel" configured which is the Facebook one.
Does anyone have an idea of what could be going wrong?
I am running the latest version of AutoTweetNG and Joomla.
By default, AutoTweet delivers posts in Page Load mode. This mode executes on every page load, with a defined frequency. This is method is simple, but it can be unreliable sometimes. It can never execute without page visits, or it can execute simultaneously when it receives multiple visits at once (For instance, visits from crawler).
In general, we recommend enabling the cron job mode to execute the post publishing task out of the (noisy) web server content.
To deliver enqueued posts, AutoTweetNG needs to be executed. So, the extension is permanently being executed (even it doesn't actually have posts to deliver).
So, the extension has two modes to be executed asynchronously: Page Load or Cronjob mode. Both modes are oriented to execute the extension in the same way. One method doesn't deliver more than the other. However, given the technical characteristics of each one, they can produce different results for each use case. That's why if Page Load mode becomes unreliable and it delivers too few posts or duplicated posts, we recommend configuring the cron job mode to execute at a fixed frequency.
